Detailed Description
This view greeted visitors and merchants to St. Louis. Wild looked to St. Louis from the Illinois side of the Mississippi, framing the scenes between two trees as he looked west and north. Wild's initial view of the city is a convincing demonstration that he brought with him fully developed skills as a townscape artist. Matted print 11" x 14" form the collections of the Missouri History Museum.
