Detailed Description
The Ville was an African-American neighborhood that faced the pressures of racism from the rest of St. Louis. Despite this, the city produced a number of famous African-American artists, authors, and prominent historical figures. Though this once flourishing community has lost some of its former luster, the residents are working to maintain its reputation as the home of African-American culture and creativity in St. Louis.
